We strive to protect and enhance public safety and property in our community through comprehensive code and law enforcement services. We use various approaches including prevention, intervention and suppression to maintain a safe community and promote individual responsibility and community commitment.

Duarte works closely with Los Angeles County and the City of Monrovia to develop new and successful strategies for addressing gang involvement and violence. Our Part I Crimes (as defined and quantified by the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program and consisting of homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, and arson) are approaching 10-year lows following a temporary spike in 2009, which has been attributed to an increase in burglaries in that year. Read Duarte's Crime Statistics page to learn how the actions of law enforcement have been successful in combating this increase in burglaries.
Duarte receives fire protection through the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Station 44 is located at 1105 S. Highland Avenue in Duarte and has countywide resources to draw on in the event of a fire emergency or other major incident in or near the City of Duarte.
